FIREKEEPERS CASINO HOTEL 14TH ANNUAL TURKEY DONATION BRINGS HOLIDAY JOY TO FAMILIES IN NEED

Battle Creek, Mich.) Nov. 20, 2023 — FireKeepers Casino Hotel is pleased to announce their annual donation of 2,600 turkeys has been made to five area food banks, as well as The Kendall Street Pantry in Battle Creek, to help those less fortunate enjoy a traditional meal this holiday season.

For the fourteenth consecutive year, FireKeepers Casino Hotel has generously provided turkeys to five area food banks prior to the start of the holiday season. This year, FireKeepers raised the bar by providing an additional 100 turkeys for the Battle Creek area, bringing the total number of turkeys donated to 2,600. Since opening, FireKeepers has made it a point to contribute to area food banks and many community organizations not only during the holiday season, but throughout the year. This also includes distributions to the FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board (FLRSB), distributions to the state of Michigan, as well as focusing business operations on local spending.

“At FireKeepers, we view giving back to the community not as an option, but as a responsibility.” stated FireKeepers CEO, Frank Tecumseh. “We believe that everyone deserves to enjoy a traditional meal with their loved ones. By donating 2,600 turkeys to area food banks, we hope to bring warmth and togetherness to families in need, ensuring that they can savor the joy of the holiday season. It’s our privilege to make this difference for our community.”

The South Michigan Food Bank, located in Battle Creek, Michigan, received 1,500 turkeys to assist our local community in an impactful way. Four regional locations have been selected for a donation of 200 turkeys each:

Community Harvest Food Bank located in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank located in Comstock Park, Mich.
Food Gatherers located in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Greater Lansing Food Bank located in Lansing, Mich.

Looking ahead, The Kendall Street Pantry will receive a donation of 300 turkeys on December 11 to prepare for donations during the Christmas period. This pantry is owned and funded by FireKeepers Casino Hotel and operated by volunteers, many of whom are casino staff and management.
